Music plays an important role in my life, making me come alive. I conducted observations and research on various album covers, noting that every element and color serves a specific purpose, which greatly fascinates me. In a personal project, I selected several albums that represent me and underwent a transformation. Using Adobe Illustrator and other software, I created different covers with similar concepts but distinct elements and colors relative to the chosen albums. These creations serve as pieces of a puzzle that collectively narrate my story.
Album Transformation
Listening to the album, I felt utterly different emotions from each song. Nevertheless, “love” is the only word to include all of them. To transform the album cover, I changed his name to mine with a similar design. In terms of colors, I used my favorite color Cosmic Latte (#FFF8E7), and the 2022 Pantone annual color Very Peri.
For me, the simple but meticulous design is a good album cover to start the project by using specific colors to represent “Karina in 2022”.

The Song of Every Moon

Bruno Major had always been fascinated by space after he knew the universe works in perfect geometric patterns and lunar cycles. The experience also made him decide to release songs around the cycle of the moon.
I’m very interested in the universe too. Inspired by the idea, instead of drawing the cycle of the moon, I did research on the astronomy behind zodiac signs. Then, I decided to display outer space with the position of the sun, moon, and each zodiac sign at the moment when I was born. Although the two album covers have different concepts, the ways to demonstrate the universe and ourselves are still similar. All illustrations on the album are composed of lines. Moreover, I imitated 99% of the sun and moon’s structures that drew by the designer.
Overall, the album cover is now more meaningful to me. It is not only because Bruno Major is my favorite singer but also because some people believe zodiac signs can represent one’s personalities that show to others and keep in yourself.

Nana Ou-Yang is the first musician, singer, and creator I admired. The songs in the album “Live Today”, from “Goodbye” to “Sorry”, present the message she wants to share: live in the moment. However, for me in 2022, I worry about the future and I am still working for the future. I know I need to live today. However, what I need more for myself is encouragement. “再辛苦一下就可以了”, meaning “It is almost there. You will get through it. I know you can”, was written on a yellow note paper pasted on my SAT mock exam. The small note hits the difference in the hardest condition. Hence, I want to include the sentence in my album.

Ed Sheeran’s album covers are known for the painting of mathematics signs such as divide and multiplication. However, since “plus” is an alternative version and “subtract” is not released, I painted and re-designed the background of the albums with special textures.
This work is request by my friend who wants to showcase his favorite album cover in his room, which is meaningful to me too.
